We Partnered with OpenEye. Here's Why.
NJ Surveillance is now an OpenEye partner. We've been deploying their platform for manufacturing and retail customers across South Jersey for a few months now, and it's earned the spot. Here's what it does and why we went with it.
We look at a lot of camera platforms. Most of them do one thing well and make you work around the rest. OpenEye Web Services — OWS for short — was the first one in a while where the integrations weren't an afterthought.

You don't have to throw out your cameras
This is the part that sells itself.
OWS is ONVIF Profile S compliant, so it records from most IP cameras already on the market. If a camera doesn't do ONVIF, it can usually still come in over RTSP as long as it's H.264. In plain terms: if you've already got cameras on the wall and they still work, we can usually keep them.
We did exactly that on a recent job. Eighty-six existing cameras stayed where they were. We re-pointed them at an OpenEye recorder, added new cameras only where there were real blind spots, and the customer got a modern platform without paying to rip out hardware that wasn't broken.
Access control and alarm in the same app
Video on its own only tells you half the story. You want to know who opened the door, not just watch it open.
We pair OWS with Alarm.com for intrusion and access control. Your team arms and disarms the system, unlocks a door, pulls up a live camera, and reviews an event — all from one app on their phone. One login. No juggling three portals to figure out what happened at 2am.
POS Connect, for our retail customers
If you run a register, this one's worth a look.
POS Connect ties your transaction data to your video. Every transaction gets stamped to the footage that goes with it. You can search transactions directly — no-sales, voids, refunds, discounts — and go straight to the video instead of scrubbing through an afternoon of it. You can set alerts on the transaction types you care about and save the searches you run every week.
It works with local and cloud-based POS systems. If you've been guessing at where your shrink is coming from, this stops the guessing.
The AI is actually useful
OWS includes AI Visual Search, which lets you search footage in plain language instead of clicking through timelines. There's also AI Visual Check, which watches for a visual condition and alerts you when it's off — an exit blocked, a display knocked down, a mat missing.
We were skeptical. It's held up.
