What You Get When the Owner Installs It

Why We're Not a National Brand, and Why That's the Point

Most homeowners have already dealt with a big security (Alarm and CCTV Camera) company. The salesman at the door. The 800 number. The contract nobody read. I want to lay out plainly how we're different, including the parts where being small isn't an advantage.

Lowes run for a new ladder. Look at the excitement!

The guy who sells it is the guy who installs it

That's not a slogan. There are a handful of us.

I come out and look at your house. I design the system. I install it. When something acts up two years from now, you call me and I'm the one who shows up. There's no handoff, no ticket number, no explaining your house to a stranger who's never been in it.

That means I can't hide behind anybody. If we put a camera in a bad spot, that's mine. If a sensor fails, that's mine too. I like it that way.

We don't knock on doors

You've probably had someone in a polo shirt on your porch in July telling you your neighbors just signed up.

We don't do that, and we don't buy leads from people who do. Every job we've gotten came from somebody we already did work for, a builder we work with, or someone who found us and called. If we're at your house, it's because you asked us to be.

Read the contract. Any contract, including ours.

Here's the advice I'd give even if you hire somebody else.

Before you sign a monitoring agreement, maintenance / installation contract, find three things: how long the term is, what happens at the end of it, and what it costs to get out. Some agreements renew on their own unless you cancel in a specific window. That's legal and it's disclosed, and people still get surprised by it every year.

Ask the same questions of me. I'd rather you ask now than find out later.

Your equipment should still work if you fire us

This one matters more than people realize.

Some systems are locked down so only the company that installed it can service it. If you leave, the gear on your wall is a paperweight and you're stuck buying it all again.

We build alarms with Honeywell, NAPCO, 2GIG and Qolsys on Alarm.com . All open source and yours to do whatever you want with. If you ever want to go somewhere else, the hardware in your house goes with you. I'd rather keep your contract because you want to stay!

Where being small is actually a downside

I'll say this part out loud, because you should know it before you hire us.

We're not a call center. If you email me at 9pm you're probably hearing from me in the morning, not in ten minutes. We're a handful passionate owners, employees and subs.

Your monitoring is a different story — that runs through a central station, staffed around the clock, every day of the year. If your alarm trips at 3am, someone is on it immediately whether I'm asleep or not.

We care so much more about our small family of customers and our reviews say everything you need to know.

So: 24/7 on the thing that has to be 24/7. Us on everything else. That trade is worth it for most people. It isn't for everybody, and I'd rather tell you that up front.

Want to Talk?

Call me. We'll walk your house, I'll tell you what I'd do and what I wouldn't bother with, and you can decide. No pressure and no sales script — I don't have one.
